For the 38th year running we gather in Vernon to celebrate long lasting friendships and la dolce vida. This year it’s the usual suspects: Donna, Ron, Kyle, Shelley, Jim, Keaton & Kristi, Sydney & Simon, Don, Bev & Craig. Jenny & Jonno are nesting in Vancouver with their newborn, Alexis. Jeanne is in Ukluelet either surfing, kayaking, salmon fishing or grizzly wrestling.
The festivities start with a first night dinner for the big Big Chillers. Once the younguns arrive it’s a bit of mayhem, although some in the group think we’ve lost some mojo over the years. Mostly because there’s no dancing, I think. And the game-playing is not as raucous as in the past. Getting old, I guess.
There are a few dog walks, lunch at Vernon’s newest culinary hot-spot, The Edge, a hilltop restaurant at The Rise golf course. Also a Kalamalka Lake beach day and a sunny Saturday afternoon on Wood Lake in a pontoon boat. Some of us even get in the lake!! Mike & Kathleen join us for dinner that night.
The Little Chillers treat us to a feast on Sunday night with Sydney as head chef making the most of the bounty from Craig’s veggie garden. Many thanks, kids!! You know you still owe us.
The crowd disperses on Monday but Jim & Shelley stay on to golf and poke around Vernon & environs. Bev & Larry show up on Tuesday and we treat ourselves to Indian take-out from Haveli.
Next year’s gathering will coincide with Ron’s 75th birthday. Maybe a good year to change it up and do something different?! Over to you Donna…

Wow 75 years is awesome that you all are still able to get together. Look like a great time was had.
Bev you have a beautiful house. Good thing you have a big dinning room table to host a meal. Very spacious.
