Morocco was our introduction to Africa. We spent a month in September 1997 seeing the sights. Less than a decade later, in November 2004, we start a three month long odyssey in Cape Town, ending in March 2005 in Cairo. In between we see South Africa, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Ethiopia and Egypt, including the Sinai. Two years later we will go again with friends and nieces and a nephew. Cairo, Nairobi, safari, Zanzibar beach. A month. In 2015 Craig & I will take 7 weeks to go a bit off the beaten track to take in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe. Mozambique, and Uganda.
It is perhaps the one continent for which we cannot readily name our favourites. Scuba diving the reef at the Quirimbas Archipelago, off the east coast of Mozambique is up there. Walking with gorillas in the cloud forest in Uganda. Seeing nursing lion cubs in Botswana. The pyramids. But when asked where we’d recommend one go we always name the same place: Tanzania.
